Al Jarreau Tribute Album Debuts Today

"We're In This Love Together/Celebrating Al Jarreau - Now Available Worldwide

CHICAGO - July 12, 2019 - PRLog -- The highly anticipated tribute album, "We're In This Love Together / Celebrating Al Jarreau from Chris Walker makes it worldwide debut today.

Chris Walker, who was Jarreau's bassist and featured vocalist for over 20 years, co-produced the album with Larry Williams, who was Jarreau's keyboardist.

Walker launched a Kickstarter campaign last May and fans, friends and colleagues of Jarreau and Walker funded the highly anticipated project.

The album features a stellar line-up of artists who came together to honor the seven-time Grammy winner  from the jazz, R&B and gospel worlds including Regina Belle, Dave Koz, Will Downing, Gerald Albright, Rick Braun, Kirk Whalum, Arturo Sandoval and David Foster among others.

The album is reminiscent of Jarreau's own tribute album to his long-time friend, George Duke.

Walker and Williams were challenged to narrow down the album to 14 cover tracks from Jarreau's vast repertoire, as well as two new tracks (Phenomenon [an early fan favorite] and Jarreau) honoring Jarreau, composed and arranged by Walker.

Fan favorites include Roof Garden, Breakin' Away, Spain, Mornin' and the title track, "We're In This Love Together," a duet with Grammy Award winner, Regina Belle.

Additionally, Walker struggled with including the opening track, which is a message from Jarreau, days before his passing.

"It is a pleasure to produce this project with my dear friend, Chris Walker, the heir apparent to Al and to move this music forward, as we believe Al would have wanted," said Larry Williams.

The album marks Walker's return as a solo artist, in his own right.  The album was pre-released in South Africa last week, in anticipation of Walker's sold-out performance in Pretoria at the Sun Arena, July 7th, honoring the late radio personality, Eddie Zondi, of Metro FM Radio.

"We're In This Love Together/Celebrating Al Jarreau" is available now at http://theconnextion.com/chriswalker, Amazon Music, and streaming on Apple (iTunes) Music, and Spotify.

Verona handed partial stadium ban for Balotelli racial abuse

Nov 21, 2019

ROME — Hellas Verona will have part of its stadium closed for one match as punishment for its fans racially abusing Mario Balotelli. The Brescia striker threatened to leave the field because of the racist chants directed at him by Verona fans during Sunday's match, which was suspended for several minutes. The league says Verona's "poltrone est" — the sector where the chants came from — will be closed for one match. The league says the chants "were clearly audible" but adds that there were chants of support and applause from other parts of the ground. Balotelli, who is black,...

Inter unbothered by parachutist landing in win over Sassuolo

Nov 21, 2019

ROME — A parachutist landing on the center of the field briefly disrupted Inter Milan's 4-3 win over Sassuolo in Serie A on Sunday. The intrusion came just before Romelu Lukaku was to take a penalty for the visitors. Security agents quickly escorted the parachutist away and Lukaku was unperturbed as he converted the spot kick for his second goal of the match. Lautaro Martinez also had a brace for second-place Inter, which moved back within a point of eight-time defending champion Juventus, which beat Bologna 2-1 a day earlier. It was an emotional day for Sassuolo, which was playing...

Bulgarian prime minister condemns soccer racism

Nov 21, 2019

SOFIA, Bulgaria — Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov condemned the racist behavior of his country's soccer fans on Tuesday, a day after the national team played England in a European Championship qualifying match. Local fans made Nazi salutes and directed monkey noises at the black players on England's national team. England won 6-0, but the match was halted twice in an effort to stop the abuse. "It is unacceptable that Bulgaria, one of the most tolerant countries in the world where people of different ethnicities live in peace, to be associated with racism and xenophobia," Borissov wrote in a post...

Proud papa: Balotelli scores as daughter watches in Napoli

Nov 21, 2019

ROME — Playing before friends and family members may be the biggest inspiration for Mario Balotelli at this point in his nomadic and controversy-filled career. Having signed with Brescia after three years away from the Italian league, Balotelli plays his home matches a stone's throw from the house that he grew up in. And on Sunday, Balotelli carried Pia, his six-year-old daughter, onto the field with him before Brescia's match at Napoli as the players lined up for the Serie A anthem. His daughter lives in Naples with her Neapolitan mother and was wearing a Napoli uniform. The hosts took...

Juventus beats Brescia 2-1 on Balotelli's Serie A return

Nov 21, 2019

MILAN — Mario Balotelli was kept quiet on his return to Serie A as his Brescia side lost 2-1 at home to eight-time defending champion Juventus on Tuesday. An own goal from Brescia defender Jhon Chancellor and Miralem Pjanic's second-half strike saw Juventus come from behind after Alfredo Donnarumma's early opener. "We are proud of what we have done," Donnarumma said. "Mario is accustomed to different movements, so we communicate a lot on our movements off the ball. Playing alongside him is an honor for me and I hope we can do a lot of things from now on." It...
