Leading Cleveland drug attorney, Edward La Rue, has recently discussed the growing drug problem in America, during an interview in Ohio.

Deaths resulting from drug usage in Ohio are expected to surge 70% by 2025, a report recently released by Trust for American’s Health and the Well Being Trust found. This means that in less than a decade 48.5 per 100,000 deaths in Ohio will be drug related.

When asked to comment, La Rue said, “The headlines are not misleading. Drug usage is one of America’s age-old problems that has resurfaced in years, largely stemming from the opioid epidemic.”

Other estimates put drug-related mortality rates in the state higher – at nearly double-fold – by 2025 largely due to the surge in the usage of opioids, such as heroin, fentanyl, and carfentanil.

While this is a widespread problem throughout America, Ohio has it worse than most. The Buckeye state is slated to rank 11th in America by 2025 in terms of mortality rates resulting from drug/alcohol use or suicide.

“Increased drug usage means more arrests, and more arrests mean a need for clients to seek a defense attorney who can mount a successful case, especially at a time when law enforcement will be cracking down on illicit activity.”

The extent of the drug problem faced by Ohio has not always been this severe.

Deaths from drug overdoses in the state have increased 506% since 1999 as per figures from the Trust for American’s Health report.

“The opioid crisis, which has hit Ohio in particular, has happened so rapidly, placing strain the existing legal system. This situation calls for defense attorneys who can navigate the evolving legal system both at the state and federal levels,” De Rue commented.

New laws and new regulations will be created to combat drug and alcohol usage, De Rue added. Some of these new regulations could include making sure that opioids aren’t being overprescribed by doctors or increase the availability of rescue drugs.

“However, this is not a problem that is going away anytime soon. While prevention and treatment efforts are in the works, no one knows how long it’ll take to curb the current drug crisis. In the meantime, we’ll be working within the legal system to help our clients also fight the opioid crisis,” he said.

He didn't score in nearly 18 minutes but celebrated as Kladno, boosted by his presence, won 2-0 at Havirov in a Czech second-league game. "Above all, I'm happy that I was finally able...

Roma far from convincing in 2-1 win over Bologna in Serie A

Feb 19, 2019

ROME — Roma beat relegation-threatened Bologna 2-1 in Serie A on Monday to stay firmly in the race for a Champions League place, but the victory was far from convincing. Each goal was scored in the second half, with Aleksandar Kolarov scoring a penalty and Federico Fazio doubling the lead for Roma before Bologna pulled one back through Nicola Sansone. Roma moved back to within one point of AC Milan, which occupies the fourth and final Champions League qualifying spot. It is also three points clear of Atalanta and city rival Lazio, which both lost during the weekend. Bologna remained...

Joint celebration shows growing Ronaldo, Dybala rapport

Feb 19, 2019

MILAN — The flourishing partnership between Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala has led to a joint celebration. Dybala scored his first league goal since Nov. 3 in Juventus' 3-0 Serie A win over Frosinone last Friday and celebrated by merging Ronaldo's distinctive celebration — of jumping and turning in the air while letting out a yell — with his own mask gesture. Ronaldo had combined their celebrations after scoring in the previous match. Dybala later posted several pictures on social media of the two of them celebrating, with the caption: "Give a title to this album... (hashtag)dybalamask (hashtag)siuuuuuuu or .......

Icardi watches as Inter beats Sampdoria 2-1 in Serie A

Feb 19, 2019

MILAN — Despite the absence of Mauro Icardi, Inter Milan managed to beat Sampdoria 2-1 in Serie A after a dramatic finale on Sunday. All the goals came in a five-minute spell with Danilo D'Ambrosio and Radja Nainggolan scoring for Inter, either side of Manolo Gabbiadini's equalizer. Inter remained third but again moved four points clear of fourth-placed AC Milan. The top four from Serie A qualify for the Champions League. The build-up to the match had been dominated by Icardi, who was stripped of his captaincy on Wednesday amid protracted contract negotiations, and the player then pulled out of...

VAR decision in Serie A game has double impact

Feb 19, 2019

FERRARA, Italy — Video review changed the course of a Serie A match in Italy on Sunday when, for the first time, a goal was disallowed and a penalty awarded to the opposing team in the same decision. SPAL thought it had gone 2-1 ahead when Mattia Valoti scored on the counter-attack but the referee viewed a previous incident on VAR and opted to award Fiorentina a penalty for Dias Felipe's trip on Federico Chiesa moments earlier. The decision, which came more than four minutes after the foul, made everything that had followed null and void, including Valoti's goal. Jordan...
