Leading Cleveland drug attorney, Edward La Rue, has recently discussed the growing drug problem in America, during an interview in Ohio.

Deaths resulting from drug usage in Ohio are expected to surge 70% by 2025, a report recently released by Trust for American’s Health and the Well Being Trust found. This means that in less than a decade 48.5 per 100,000 deaths in Ohio will be drug related.

When asked to comment, La Rue said, “The headlines are not misleading. Drug usage is one of America’s age-old problems that has resurfaced in years, largely stemming from the opioid epidemic.”

Other estimates put drug-related mortality rates in the state higher – at nearly double-fold – by 2025 largely due to the surge in the usage of opioids, such as heroin, fentanyl, and carfentanil.

While this is a widespread problem throughout America, Ohio has it worse than most. The Buckeye state is slated to rank 11th in America by 2025 in terms of mortality rates resulting from drug/alcohol use or suicide.

“Increased drug usage means more arrests, and more arrests mean a need for clients to seek a defense attorney who can mount a successful case, especially at a time when law enforcement will be cracking down on illicit activity.”

The extent of the drug problem faced by Ohio has not always been this severe.

Deaths from drug overdoses in the state have increased 506% since 1999 as per figures from the Trust for American’s Health report.

“The opioid crisis, which has hit Ohio in particular, has happened so rapidly, placing strain the existing legal system. This situation calls for defense attorneys who can navigate the evolving legal system both at the state and federal levels,” De Rue commented.

New laws and new regulations will be created to combat drug and alcohol usage, De Rue added. Some of these new regulations could include making sure that opioids aren’t being overprescribed by doctors or increase the availability of rescue drugs.

“However, this is not a problem that is going away anytime soon. While prevention and treatment efforts are in the works, no one knows how long it’ll take to curb the current drug crisis. In the meantime, we’ll be working within the legal system to help our clients also fight the opioid crisis,” he said.

Immobile ends drought with 2 goals to help Lazio beat Verona

Feb 21, 2018

ROME — Ciro Immobile boosted his bid for Serie A's top goalscorer award with another two goals as Lazio beat relegation-threatened Hellas Verona 2-0 on Monday. Immobile, who won the prize with Torino in 2014, took his tally to 22 for the season, four more than closest challenger Mauro Icardi of Inter Milan. Lazio ended a three-match losing run and moved into fourth spot, a point above fifth-placed Inter Milan and one behind Roma. It was also an end to Immobile's goalscoring drought, with his first goal since Jan. 6. "I am happy," Immobile said. "Fourty-four days without scoring a...

Juve win is costly with Higuain, Bernardeschi injuries

Feb 21, 2018

ROME — Juventus' 1-0 derby win over Torino came at a high cost with both prized striker Gonzalo Higuain and his replacement, Federico Bernardeschi, coming off with injuries. The status of each player will be big concerns for Juventus' pursuit of a seventh straight Serie A title as well as the return leg of the Champions League last 16 against Tottenham. Higuain was left grimacing on the pitch three minutes in after making contact near the endline with Torino goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu, who broke up a Juventus chance. After staying on for another 10 minutes, Higuain exited and was replaced...

More wonder from Under: Turkey winger fires Roma to win

Feb 21, 2018

ROME — Cengiz Under scored his fourth goal in three matches and Roma won at Udinese 2-0 for its third straight win in Serie A on Saturday. Roma moved into third place, two points ahead of Inter Milan, before Inter's match at Genoa later. "We're getting back on track to where we were in the first half of the season," Perotti said. Roma went ahead when Under unleashed a powerful, rising shot from beyond the area in the 70th. Diego Perotti sealed the victory in the 90th with an angled effort after Udinese gave the ball away near midfield. Under...

'Mission accomplished' as Napoli nears Europa League exit

Feb 21, 2018

ROME — "Mission accomplished," read the headline in the Gazzetta dello Sport on Friday. It perfectly captured the sentiment surrounding Serie A team Napoli's 3-1 loss to visiting Leipzig in the first leg of the Europa League's last 32. It's a matchup that the Serie A leader is showing no interest in winning. On course for its first Italian league title in nearly three decades, Napoli is making it abundantly clear that it would prefer to be eliminated from Europe's second-tier competition and dedicate all of its energy to Serie A. "This squad is still behind in terms of maturity,...

Gattuso: AC Milan is not like Brad Pitt, we're ugly

Feb 21, 2018

MILAN — AC Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso is never going to draw comparisons with Brad Pitt — and he doesn't want his team to either. The bearded Gattuso is getting compliments as a coach as his rejuvenated Milan has climbed up to seventh on the table, sparking talk it could still sneak into the Champions League. "We're not even in the Europa League because Sampdoria is ahead of us in the standings," Gattuso says. "We're taking it day by day and let's not forget how we were two months ago. "We're not Brad Pitt, we have to continue being as...
