Inter signs Italy forward Politano on loan from Sassuolo

MILAN — Inter Milan has signed Italy forward Matteo Politano on loan from Sassuolo with the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

Italian media reports Inter paid Sassuolo five million euros ($5.9 million) for the loan and can buy Politano outright for a further 20 million euros ($23.4 million) next year.

The 24-year-old Politano cut short his honeymoon to undergo a medical at Inter this week before signing on Saturday.

Politano progressed through the youth system at Roma and, after spells at Perugia and Pescara, he joined Sassuolo in 2015.

He scored 11 goals for Sassuolo last season and made his Italy debut last month, starting in a 2-1 win over Saudi Arabia in a friendly.
