Alchemizing Toxic Masculinity: Meet the founder of Embodied Masculine Amir Khalighi

Amir Khalighi is the founder of Embodied Masculine, a worldwide community built to connect and empower men, in living purpose driven lives. His experience in men's private coaching expands over a quarter century and led to the creation of Embodied Masculine.

Embodied Masculine was founded in 2018 by Amir Khalighi, who up until then had spent 25 years, as he explains, “on the path” in education and soul-clarity, working on self-mastery, and along the way helping hundreds of men to become empowered in healthy ways.

Amir started Embodied Masculine to create a community where men can connect with their deepest sense of self and Nature in order to feel empowered to live purpose-driven lives. Embodied Masculine has become one of the leading men’s movements in shifting the face of “toxic masculinity”, helping men to reframe their relationship with power and to come into alignment with the feminine within and without. Amir believes that the men of Embodied Masculine are those who have chosen to take on this responsibility for changing the face of masculinity in society, responsibility for the leaders in positions of power, and responsibility for society and the planet's well being.

Embodied Masculine exists to bring strong, heart-centered men together so that they can work together to bring about this change. Discussing how men can make a change and evolve together in stepping confidently in their masculinity, Amir Khalighi explains, "It is time for men to take responsibility in shifting what drives us. We must not succumb to the whims of a society driven by pride and prestige, we must once again regain our power by knowing nothing outside of ourselves will be the salve for true fulfilment. Men must be with and learn from Nature again – sit with Her, be with Her, drink from Her wisdom."

Amir was born in Tehran, Iran, and brought up by a single mother. He first began working with men at the age of 23, working in the field of addiction and martial arts. He spent his college years exploring existential philosophy and comparative religious studies. Today, his teachings and philosophy also encompass Jungian archetypal psychology, somatic therapy, and embodiment methodology. Some of the influences on his work that Amir lists include mythopoetic men’s work, Sufi mysticism, yogic intimacy, Celtic mythology, and Hermetic Qabalah. He is committed to connecting men with the Great Mother, the term that he uses to describe nature, god, and higher power, as well as empowering them to use their masculine energy to find purpose.

Embodied Masculine has allowed Amir to take his 25 years of experience working with men and share his message through workshops, coaching, speaking, and group facilitation. He also shares his writing on his philosophy and approach at Elephant Journal and regularly participates in podcasts and conferences. He is also the founder of BelovedPoetry.com and is himself a poet and artist, as well as a coach and speaker. His work has involved coaching men from a wide range of backgrounds, from powerful businessmen to young men who are beginning their journey of self-discovery.
