Subsequently, he earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and attended the University of Cincinnati for his residency training in internal medicine. Drawn to nephrology early in his residency, he could not see himself doing anything else after doing his first clinical nephrology rotation. He also has additional training in interventional nephrology with active certification from ASDIN.

Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in nephrology and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists have advanced training in treating kidney disease. When he is not working, Dr. Lancaster spends as much time as he can with his family and his 2 boys. Together, they enjoy camping, boating, and cooking at the campsite. He hopes to try his hand at farming as they get older.
