He joined the practice in January of 2023, after being a part of Florida Retina Institute for 31+ years, from July of 1991 until December 2022.

A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Dr. Dunn went on to earn his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1980. After residency training and twelve years of active duty in the Air Force, Dr. Dunn completed a fellowship in vitreo-retinal disease and surgery at Retina Associates of Cleveland, Mt. Sinai Medical Center/Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio.
Passionate about his profession, the doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The ABO is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.
Dr. Dunn soloed a Cessna 150 at age 16 and now holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) and Single Pilot Jet Rating, with over 4500 hours of accident-free flight time, achieving the NBAA Safety Award (National Business Aircraft Association). He also holds the USPA "D" Expert Rating, the top license in skydiving with over 255 jumps. The top FAA MASTER PILOT Wright Brothers Award was given to him in October of 2021.
At 19 years of service, Dr. Dunn was promoted to the rank of full Colonel in, the USAF, later finishing his career with more than 30 years of active duty, guard, and reserve service to our country.
Licensed to practice medicine in Florida, Dr. Dunn is affiliated with Halifax Health - Medical Center of Port Orange and Halifax Health Medical Center.
Throughout his extensive career, he has volunteered on seven third-world eye missions (three to Punjab, India, three to the Dominican Republic, and one to Grenada). He has also been a principal investigator on multiple national clinical studies in VR research.
Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. They may provide routine care such as vision testing, as well as prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, ophthalmologists are also surgeons. Raised in Arizona, Dr. Dunn enjoys biking, flying, skiing, and traveling the world. He is the very proud father of four adult children and seven grandchildren.
